Packaging Technologist

Job: Packaging Technologist

Location: Bishops Stortford


Role Summary:

As part of the Technical Packaging team you will be responsible for the development and industrialisation of packaging in line with the business timings and requirements. The job will involve responsibility for the execution of all required development work and factory support. Additionally the Packaging Technologist is responsible for the compilation of all Component & Finished Good Specifications, providing a tool box of information to pass to production partners.

The Packaging Technologist will be responsible for developing customer and supplier relationships, ensuring that projects and processes are compliant, whilst executed on time to meet business needs.

As a Packaging Technologist, you must be methodical, analytical and flexible with great communication and prioritisation skills. Self-motivated and enthusiastic, you must possess strong rapport-building abilities and an adaptable approach.



Be a technical expert to business customers & partners.

Have a working knowledge of plastic moulding, , decorating technologies, paper/paperboard, printing, packing & assembly, mass, medium and low volume manufacturing, glass manufacture, metals manufacturing

Manage technical aspects of all bespoke Molton Brown components to meet the designated requirements of marketing and supply chain on time and in full.

Create specifications for all new components, primary to tertiary and establish standards. Confirm function, form and compatibility to the proposed product and proposed manufacturing process.

Approve drawings & artworks; compile & issue component & finished good specifications.

Ensure defined quality AQL’s and standards are agreed on new projects.

Ensure that the defined testing & approval procedures are followed, and that any deviations are agreed with Senior Manager

Identify the need for, and manage the execution of, line Trials and support 1st production ensuring that all the factory requirements are satisfied

Team Working

Able to work autonomously as well as part of a high performing team

Ensure that all projects are progressed and results are documented to enable a smooth handover to production

Support other team members as & when resource flex is required.

Communication & relations

Establish and maintain good relationships with suppliers and keep abreast of new packaging technologies that may provide new / superior benefits.


Work with all component suppliers to develop and implement new packaging

Work with manufacturing 3rd party subcontractors to identify, set up new filling / manufacturing route and finalise specifications for scale up, samples and final production.

Design / 3D design

Constantly look for opportunities to improve existing packaging technologies to drive margin and/or performance.

Strong attention for detail and a flair for design.

Understanding of product development processes/ elements in product design

3D CAD & prototyping knowledge is not required but would be a benefit


3 to 5 years packaging experience in a premium personal care business. Experience of the luxury sector would be preferable but not compulsory

Ideally educated to Degree/HNC/IOP packaging diploma level.

Knowledge of the factors that support the wider business goals

Excellent time and project management skills.

A clear & concise communicator, ability to communicate effectively across a cross-section of disciplines and staff level internally and externally

Able to negotiate and influence others.

Is logical, pragmatic & process driven.

Able to demonstrate a clear analytical approach to problem solving.

Demonstrates a competent level of knowledge of the technologies used by our suppliers in the manufacture of components.

Demonstrates a competent level of knowledge of all printing processes used within the industry.

Have experience in or have knowledge of machinery used in the filling of components

A good understanding of technical drawing’s and basic tool manufacture across a number of industries.

An awareness of relevant packaging legislation

Fully competent on Microsoft office, all packages

Travel: The role will require travel within the UK and overseas

Laboratory Technician

Job: Laboratory Technician

Location: Bishops Stortford


Job Summary: To assist in the development of formulations and products


Ideal candidates will have some experience working in a laboratory or manufacturing plant and familiar with good manufacturing and hygiene practices.

Be a practical / hands-on team player.

Working as part of a larger team, the responsibilities can include:

Preparing paperwork and raw material orders prior to batch manufacture.

Manufacturing support for small lab and pilot plant batches on a variety of equipment.

Performing physical analysis to assess product against specification.

Filling, Packing and Labelling of samples for shipping.


All R&D and Project Management Personnel


Knowledge of consumer products (preferably cosmetics industry or food).

Experience in a laboratory, manufacturing or kitchen environment, with a keen eye for detail being essential.

The candidate must be proficient in MS Word, Excel

Proven ability of providing detailed and accurate work.

Strong organisational & inter-personal skills.

Technical Regulatory Administrator

To assist in ensuring that MB products comply with regulatory obligations, globally, to compile and review regulatory compliance documents for product information files and product registration


To assist the regulatory team in the collation and organization of relevant documents for product information files and safety assessments
