Suede Orris came from my private collection – my ‘magic box’. It’s a modern take on the noble, Florentine precious perfumery gesture of orris-scented gloves. Rich, pure orris absolute is wrapped in a soft, smooth suede caress, for a quietly confident scent.

Meet The Perfumer:
Jérôme Di Marino
A new-generation perfumer, Jérôme puts an avant-garde spin on his olfactive creations while maintaining a balance between elegance and modernity.
What sets you apart from other perfumers?
“My young age. I’m 30 – not the classic old-school Perfumer from Grasse. I am connected to the social network, music, fashion and gastronomy. I see fragrances with a human aspect.”
What inspired you to create Suede Orris?
“I wanted to reinvent a combination of accords; suede and orris used a lot in the 16th century; in a modern, directional way. I chose an orris absolute to add a fruity pear aspect to the deep smoothness. It accentuates the tension between the two facets.”
What makes Suede Orris so unique?
“It challenges the idea that orris is old fashioned. I wanted it to be powdery, yet modern. There’s an addictive richness, a lot of volume and sensuality.”
Jérôme drew inspiration from Catherine de Medici; a famous Florentine noblewoman who became known as the ultimate trendsetter. Her Perfumer, Rene de Florentin had his own clandestine laboratory she would visit via a secret passage. It was here he created her iconic scented leather gloves, and from here that we sourced our pure, precious orris absolute.
