Who’s to say a divine bubble bath should be reserved for the weekend, or that our new favourite Scented Candle is ‘for best’? We invited six influencers to share their self-care tips. The frantic pace of modern-day lifestyles – a pressure to do more, be more, stay online and be present all at once – means that time is almost always at a premium. According to a report compiled by Ofcom in 2018, people are online for an average of 24 hours per week. In an age of digital dependency, it’s never been more important to prioritise self-care and take a moment for yourself. Soothe the senses with a moment to yourself; it doesn’t have to include a full-blown spa experience. “I love to pamper myself by having a really, really long shower. It washes away my day, and just really sets me up for a good night’s sleep,” says Maria Joynson, content creator at @mariajblogs.

Research published on Healthline shows that regular reading ‘improves brain connectivity; empowers you to empathise with others; reduces stress, and prevents cognitive decline as you age’. “My favourite way to unwind after a long day is to curl up under a really cosy blanket, and read a great book,” says Ella Gregory, co-host of lifestyle podcast Let’s Discuss.

Building a ‘good habits’ routine

From a morning checklist to a complete bath and body ritual, crafting a ‘good habits’ routine can be transformative to how you enjoy your day. Sade Akinsanya, architectural designer and content creator at In My Sunday Best, schedules self-care into her day: “My ultimate way to unwind and take a moment for myself would have to be my morning coffee and my daily lunchtime yoga.”

Building a routine can also alleviate anxieties and stress; Headspace, a hub for meditation and mindfulness, recommends you schedule in thinking time and daily journaling. “I’m half routine, half embrace the moment. I really love my morning routine, but as the day comes, I’m very much ‘go with the flow’,” says Monica Welburn-Leggett, lifestyle blogger at The Elgin Avenue.
