Your Guide To Fragrance Families: Floral
How To Find Your Perfect Scent
Need some tips on how to choose your signature scent? Discovering our six fragrance families, ambery, woody, floral, aromatic, citrus and chypre, should nudge you in the right direction. Chances are you’ll already know what floral fragrances are – they’re the most recognizable and one of the oldest fragrance families with a reputation for being pretty, summery and feminine. But there’s more than meets the eye in the world of blossoms – scroll down for our Floral Guide, including a few surprises along the way.
What Are Floral Scents?
Floral fragrances, of course, capture the essence of flowers. As our Fragrance Expert, Marie Edmond explains, ‘floral perfumes can spotlight a single unique bloom, called a soliflore, or express a bouquet of notes’. Indeed, an individual bud can have a myriad of characters. Did you know? A rose can be fresh, thorny, sumptuous, sophisticated, delicate, velvety or honeyed. It’s a richly layered family that parts into sub-categories of its own – here are three examples:
White florals including jasmine, lily, tuberose, ylang-ylang and frangipani are sensual, warm, narcotic and even animal-like.
Spring florals such as daffodil have that ‘freshly-picked’ feel that’s dewy, green, joyful and spontaneous.
Powdery florals like iris and mimosa are soft, precious and very refined.

Who Are They Suited For?
Floral fragrances may be classically feminine but its diverse, flourishing facets have something to entice everyone, whether you want to feel elegant, romantic, unconventional, adventurous or magnetic. And while some scents have a radiance that suits sunny days others have dark, spicy accents perfect for autumn and winter.

Our Floral Collections
We have three white-floral fragrances – Heavenly Gingerlily entwines lily with a fresh, watery breeze to convey tropical wanderlust, while Lily & Magnolia Blossom is a modern interpretation with dewy lily of the valley and delicate magnolia. The tart rhubarb in our Delicious Rhubarb & Rose collection brings a fruity element swirling with gentle rose and grapefruit for an almost-edible effect.
Make our summery white-floral fragrance into a flower-rich ritual: Flora Luminare Bath & Shower Gel, Glowing Bathing Oil, Eau de Parfum and on-the-go Hand Cream.
