What Are Ambery Scents?

As our in-house Fragrance Expert Marie Edmond explains, ''the ambery family is one of the most statement-making in perfumery – imagine vibrant flowers, intense woods and spicy undertones – and at the heart of this, amber notes.'' Inspired by the golden warmth of the precious resin, amber is rich and sensuous, traditionally sourced from a raw material called ambergris. As part of our planet-friendly practices, we don’t use real ambergris, choosing instead a synthetic ingredient called ambroxan. Amber’s deep, animalic quality can also be captured through an accord of sweet balms and resins like labdanum, vanilla and tonka bean.

We have three ambery collections, each with its own distinctive personality. Our Neon Amber and Labdanum Dusk fragrances are both modern retellings of the family. Neon Amber intrigues the senses with a never-seen-before, modern overdose of tonka absolute, fuelled by bright mandarin and warm ambroxan for an addictive trail. Labdanum Dusk is a more extravagant and enigmatic interpretation, spotlighting smoky, leathery labdanum with contemporary earthiness and exquisite oudh. Mesmerising Oudh Accord & Gold is a classic celebration, with heady oudh taking centre stage, refined by cinnamon leaf and citrusy elemi.
